TH1
Every legendary fortress begins as a single wooden hut on a patch of grass.
Town Hall Level 1 is the humble starting point for every Builder in the Clash of Clans world. It is a tiny, rustic wooden structure perched on a small grassy plot, surrounded by just a handful of essential buildings. For new players, TH1 is where the journey from nothing to a functioning village begins—where you first train troops, collect resources, and learn to defend your home. Though it is the simplest and most modest of all Town Hall levels, TH1 carries a quiet narrative weight: it is the seed from which every great fortress, every sprawling TH17 citadel, and every legendary clan capital grows. It represents the Builder's first act of creation in a vast, colorful world of goblins, giants, and clashing armies.

Lore & Background
In the world of Clash of Clans, no Builder is born into a grand citadel. Every one of them starts at the bottom: a modest wooden Town Hall, a few resource pits, a single cannon pointed at the horizon. The TH1 village is not impressive by the standards of the later levels—there is no stone, no iron, no towering walls. There is only the green of the map, the warm brown of rough-hewn timber, and the quiet hum of a Camp where a handful of troops wait for orders. Yet this smallness is the point. The lore of the game is built on the idea that a Builder's skill is measured not by what they are given, but by what they construct from almost nothing. The TH1 is a blank canvas, a first sketch. The Builder who masters the art of defending a single Cannon and a thin line of walls has learned the principles that will later allow them to design the labyrinthine, multi-layered fortresses of TH14, TH15, and beyond. Among the community of Builders, TH1 carries a fond, almost nostalgic reverence. It is the level where everyone was vulnerable, where a single Barbarian could threaten the Town Hall, where the first loss felt like a real defeat. It is the shared origin story of every player who has ever opened the game, placed a building, and felt the first small thrill of watching Elixir trickle into a collector.
In Their Own Story
The rain had just stopped when the Builder knelt in the mud and set the last plank on the Town Hall roof. Around her, the village was barely a village: a Gold Mine with its little pickaxe, an Elixir Collector bubbling faintly, a Barracks with its door still swinging in the wind. One Cannon sat at the edge of the plot, its barrel pointing toward the tree line where, she was sure, a Goblin had been watching. She wiped her hands on her apron and looked at the whole of it. Twelve tiles of grass. Seven buildings. A single path connecting everything. It was nothing. It was everything. Somewhere beyond the trees, a distant horn sounded—another Builder, maybe, or a raiding party. She did not know yet which. She picked up her hammer, checked the Cannon's fuse, and waited. The first lesson of the world was simple: build, defend, survive. Everything else came later. Everything else was still a dream.
Reader's Guide
Welcome to the smallest village in the land. The TH1 map is a compact, grassy square—barely a dozen tiles across—where every building is close enough to touch. The Town Hall sits near the center: a low, single-story wooden hut with a thatched roof and a small flag on top. It looks almost toy-like compared to the grand stone-and-iron structures you will see at higher levels. Around it, you will find the essentials. A Cannon, squat and round, is your first and often only defense. A Barracks and a Camp sit nearby, giving you a small garrison of troops. A Gold Mine and an Elixir Collector provide your income, their little animations giving the village a sense of life. The paths are short, the walls (if you have built any) are thin, and the whole layout fits in your palm. The visual language here is warm and rustic: rough wood, green grass, soft earth tones. There is no metal, no glass, no towering architecture. It is a camp, not a castle. As you progress from TH1 toward TH17, the world transforms. The map grows larger. The Town Hall evolves from a wooden hut into a multi-tiered stone-and-crystal fortress. Defenses multiply and diversify—mortars, air defenses, inferno towers, eagle artillery. The layout shifts from a simple cluster to a complex, layered design with traps, funnels, and hidden kill-zones. The palette shifts from warm browns and greens to cooler silvers, deep blues, and glowing magentas. What began as a single cannon on a patch of grass becomes a sprawling, almost impossible fortress that takes hours to plan and days to build. The journey from TH1 to TH17 is the story of the entire game: from humble beginning to legendary scale.
Did You Know?
- TH1 is the universal starting point for every new Builder in the game, making it the single most experienced Town Hall level in the entire player base.
- The TH1 Town Hall is the only level rendered as a simple, single-story wooden structure; every subsequent level adds height, material complexity, and architectural detail.
- At TH1, the map is the smallest in the game, meaning the distance between your Town Hall and the map edge is minimal—making early raids feel intimate and immediate.
- The Cannon, the first defense available at TH1, remains a core component of the game's defensive toolkit all the way through to the highest Town Hall levels.
