Builder Base

A gear-grinding, workshop-forged second village where builders become the stars.

The Builder Base is a separate, self-contained base within Clash of Clans that lets players design, build, and defend an entirely second village using the same pool of Builders they already employ in their Home Village. Rather than expanding the medieval village, it opens a parallel workshop-and-fortress playground with its own unique set of buildings, troops, and defensive structures that cannot be found anywhere else in the game. At its heart sits the Builder's Hut, the equivalent of a Town Hall, which governs the base's overall level and unlocks new construction slots. Around it, players arrange a Workshop for troop upgrades, a Barracks for training, and a variety of mechanical defenses, creating a base that feels less like a castle and more like a bustling industrial compound. The Builder Base also introduces its own dedicated attack mode, allowing players to raid other players' Builder Bases with a distinct roster of units.

Lore & Background

Long before the Builder Base existed as a player-built structure, the Builders of the Clash of Clans world were known as itinerant craftsmen who traveled from village to village, repairing walls, forging siege engines, and patching up the occasional crumbling keep. Over time, a small community of these artisans settled around a shared workshop district, and the Builder's Hut rose as their central meeting hall and command post. The buildings they erected bore little resemblance to the stone-and-timber castles of the Home Village; instead, they favored iron scaffolding, rotating gear assemblies, and compact armories that could be disassembled and reconfigured in an afternoon. The Workshop became the crown jewel of this district. While Home Village players relied on the Laboratory for troop research, the Builders developed their own method: a hands-on Workshop where units were literally reassembled, reinforced, and tested on the spot. Troops like the Royal Champion and the Electro Dragon were said to have been conceived in these very halls, their designs sketched on oil-stained blueprints before being brought to life through a combination of alchemy and mechanical ingenuity. When the game's developers (in-world, the Village Council) opened the Builder Base to all players, it became a place where the mechanical and the magical coexisted. Defenses like the X-Bow and the Archer Tower were reimagined with a more industrial aesthetic, and the ground itself took on the look of a well-worn workshop floor. For players who found the Home Village's medieval layout familiar, the Builder Base offered a fresh canvas: a compact, gear-driven fortress that rewarded a different kind of strategic thinking.

In Their Own Story

The smell of hot metal and sawdust hung thick in the air. Kael, a third-year Builder, wiped grease from his forearms and glanced up at the half-finished X-Bow jutting from the eastern wall. The gear train was misaligned—again. He could feel the vibration through the soles of his boots, a low mechanical groan that meant the whole thing would shudder apart the moment an enemy Balloon drifted into range. "You're overthinking the axle," muttered old Renna, her hammer tapping a rhythm against the Workshop's anvil. She didn't look up from the Valkyrie's new blade. "The Builders don't build castles, kid. We build machines. Machines forgive a crooked bolt. Castles don't."

Kael adjusted the gear. The groan smoothed into a hum. Outside, the sun was setting over the workshop district, painting the iron rooftops in shades of amber and rust. Somewhere beyond the palisade, a Hog Rider's war cry echoed across the plains. He grinned, grabbed his wrench, and got back to work.

Reader's Guide

Step through the palisade and you'll immediately notice the ground: not the grass and dirt paths of the Home Village, but a broad, weathered workshop floor scattered with tool marks, oil stains, and the occasional stray gear. The overall footprint is compact—fewer building slots than a late-game Home Village, which means every placement decision carries more weight. The Builder's Hut anchors the center. It reads as a large, multi-level workshop with a prominent chimney and a rotating gear on its facade. Around it, you'll find the Workshop (a squat, furnace-lit building where troops are upgraded), the Barracks (a long, low structure with a training yard out back), and the defensive line: Cannons, Archer Towers, Mortars, and X-Bows, all rendered with exposed pistons, riveted plating, and a slightly steampunk flavor that sets them apart from their Home Village counterparts. Progression feels different here. Because the base is smaller and the troop roster is unique, upgrades cycle faster and the sense of constant tinkering is stronger. You're not slowly grinding toward a single mega-structure; you're iterating on a machine, swapping parts, testing configurations. Visually, the palette shifts from the warm greens and browns of the Home Village to cooler metallics, deep oranges from furnace glow, and the occasional flash of electric blue from an Electro Dragon in flight. It's the Builder's workshop come to life, and it looks like it.
