Electro Wizard
Two bolts, one crackle, and a swarm of enemies suddenly very short on health.
The Electro Wizard is a ranged troop in Clash of Clans who wields a crackling staff to hurl bolts of raw electricity at enemy forces. Unlike single-target archers, the Electro Wizard's bolt can strike up to two enemies simultaneously, making it a natural counter to clustered ground troops and a beloved addition to any mixed army. Introduced in 2015, the Electro Wizard quickly became a fan-favourite for its flashy chain-zap animation and its role as a reliable mid-range support unit. It slots neatly into Town Hall 7+ armies, filling the gap between the raw output of a Giant and the swarm-clearing speed of an Archer, while its electric aesthetic gives it a distinct identity among the village's defenders and attackers.

Lore & Background
In the scattered villages that dot the Clash of Clans world, the Electro Wizard is a figure both feared and respected. Where the Archer picks a single target with quiet precision and the Wizard hurls a single fireball with theatrical flair, the Electro Wizard does something messier and more fun: it splits its lightning across two foes at once. Village elders say the first Electro Wizards were apprentices who couldn't decide which enemy to strike, so they simply struck both. The resulting double-bolt became their signature, and no one complained. Their staffs are crafted from a pale, lightning-scarred wood that hums faintly even when idle. The bolt they fire is a pale blue-white arc that forks as it leaves the tip, leaving a brief ozone smell in its wake. In battle they prefer to stay just behind the front line—close enough to keep their bolts landing, far enough to avoid the first wave of Goblins or Barbarians. They are not tanks, and they know it. Among the player community the Electro Wizard occupies a warm, dependable niche. It is not the star of the army, but the one you quietly add to every composition because you know that when the Hog Rider swarm meets a wall of P.E.K.K.A's, or when a cluster of Balloons drifts into range, that little crackle of double-lightning will make all the difference.
In Their Own Story
The fog rolled in off the moor just as the army crested the hill. Kael, a wiry Electro Wizard with a staff that sparked every time he shifted his weight, counted the enemy formation below: a tight knot of Goblins, two Barbarians, and a single, very smug-looking Golem grinding toward the village wall. His companion, a broad-shouldered Giant, was already wading in, arms raised, taunting the Golem into a slow, grinding duel. Kael didn't need to aim twice. He raised the staff, felt the familiar static crawl up his forearms, and let the bolt go. It forked mid-air, one prong kissing the Golem's shoulder, the other snapping across the Goblins' cluster. Three of them dropped in a shower of sparks. The Golem roared, turned, and charged—not toward the Giant, but toward the little wizard who had just made its skin feel like a live wire. Kael was already running. The Giant was already swinging. And behind them, the rest of the army poured over the ridge like blue water over a stone, and the village below would learn, by the time the dust settled, exactly why you never, ever cluster your troops in a tight little knot.
Reader's Guide
Name: Electro Wizard Unlock: Town Hall 7 Attack: Electric bolt, hits up to 2 targets Speed: Fast (light ranged troop)
The Electro Wizard is a mid-range support unit whose defining trait is its two-target bolt. It is not a tank, not a siege engine, and not a spell-caster; it is a reliable damage dealer that punishes clustering. Because its bolt splits, it shreds groups of Goblins, Barbarians, or even a tight pack of Balloons faster than a single-target Archer could. Best pairings: Pair with front-line tanks (Giants, Golems, Hog Riders) that draw aggro while the Electro Wizard picks off the clustered defenders behind them. It also synergises well with Air Balloons and Hog Rider + Balloon mixed armies, where it can zap ground troops that dive to intercept. In Town Hall 7–9 pushes, a handful of Electro Wizards tucked behind a Giant or Golem core can clear a wall of P.E.K.K.A's or Inferno Towers' ground support faster than you'd expect. Drop them when: You see a tight cluster of 3+ ground troops or a small Balloon pack in the target zone. That is your cue to let the bolt fork and the sparks fly.
Did You Know?
- The Electro Wizard's bolt is one of the few troop attacks in the game that visually splits into two distinct arcs, a small animation detail that fans have come to associate with the troop's identity.
- It was introduced alongside other Town Hall 7 troops, expanding the player's ranged options beyond the Archer and the single-target Wizard.
- Because it can hit two targets, its effective damage-per-second against a clustered group is noticeably higher than a single-target unit of similar base damage, making it a cost-efficient choice for swarm-clearing.
- Its staff is depicted as a pale, lightning-scarred rod that glows faintly even outside of combat, a small visual cue that distinguishes it from the Wizard's fire-tipped staff.
